Taroko venture into western cuisines in China market on next year

The veteran textile factory Taroko (1432) announced yesterday (16) that in addition to opening 20 sports-themed shopping malls in Taiwan, and cooperating with Japan’s AEON Group, three sports catering complex stores of Qianping will be opened in Suzhou, mainland next year. The corporation estimates that Taroko’s first base in mainland China is expected to operate next spring, with a target profit and loss in the first year, and can contribute to the profit of the parent company in 2015.
In recent years, Taroko has actively turned to the real estate business, in addition to investing NT$ 4 billion in Kaohsiung MRT Caoya Station, to build the first car-themed shopping mall in Taiwan that combines the Suzuka karting track “Taroko Caoya Road”; Yesterday, it also announced that it will cooperate with Japan’s AEON Group to enter the mainland market, entering AEON’s three shopping malls in Suzhou, China, and each opening a large-scale store with more than 1,000 square meters of sports facilities combined with catering.
Hsu Yung-Chang, vice president of Taroko Development, said yesterday that it is expected that there will be three bases in the mainland next year, in addition to AEON Suzhou Wuzhong and Park two stores, and open a Taroko sports catering complex independent store in Shandong. In 2015, AEON will enter its third store in Suzhou, with a total of four bases, each with an investment of RMB 5 million to RMB 10 million, depending on the characteristics of each store, it will introduce bowling alleys combined with catering, or gymnasiums, baseball pitches combined with catering, etc., hoping to achieve a flat level in the first year.
