Hidekei Suzuki, governor of Mie Prefecture, led a delegation of seven people to visit Gao City to meet with Mayor Chen Ju. Mayor Chen received the Kaohsiung MRT Company and visited the base of the large-scale comprehensive development project “Taroko Caoya Road Shopping Center” of Gaojie South Machine Factory, Chairman Hao Jiansheng, General Manager Chen Pei’an, Director Wu Yilong of the MRT Bureau, Director Xu Chuansheng of the Tourism Bureau, Lin Yingbin, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Bureau, Chairman Cai Mingzhang of Taroko Development, and Vice Chairman Xie Guodong of Daluge Development were present at the reception. Mayor Chen is optimistic about the business characteristics of Taroko Caoya Road Shopping Center with the theme of motorsport and sports leisure, and believes that after its opening at the end of next year, it is bound to attract the attention of tourists and become a new landmark in Kaohsiung City.
Mayor Chen Ju said that Kaohsiung and Japan have frequent interaction and close relations, Japanese enterprises have invested as many as 173 projects, creating an output value of 30.2 billion yuan, Kaohsiung actively promotes the cruise and yacht industry, and Kumamoto, Nagano and other prefectures also open direct flight routes, looking forward to the long-term development of the two cities, strengthening cooperation and exchanges in industry, tourism and education, establishing friendship, and also looking forward to learning from Japan’s experience in disaster prevention and relief and building a safe city.
Governor Hidekei Suzuki said that Kaohsiung has many similarities with Mie Prefecture, which has recently developed rapidly, while Kaohsiung has achieved good results in developing the cruise industry, and he welcomed Kaohsiung people to visit the prefecture for sightseeing, and looked forward to the completion of the “Taroko Kusanagi Road” as scheduled, implanting Japanese experience, and closer and deeper exchanges between the two sides. He also regretted the gas explosion incident in Kaohsiung and hoped to share the experience of disaster prevention and relief to reduce the risks caused by disasters.
The two sides listened to the briefing by Yang Yawen, Deputy General Manager of Taroko, and learned about the experiential business model of Caoya Road Shopping Center that brings together retail, catering, sports, entertainment and other elements, and believed that Caoya Road is located next to Kaohsiung Airport, occupying a convenient location, and the diversified leisure and entertainment elements planned are the highlights, and it is also the first shopping mall in Taiwan that can be pre-checked, which is bound to attract international tourists. The combination of racing theme amusement park and family leisure shopping is very optimistic, and it is believed that Caoya Road has an international racing theme amusement park at the exit of the downtown MRT, which will be a great selling point.

According to the statistics of 27 important sightseeing and recreation areas, the number of visitors reached more than 32.356 million in 102, an increase of about 7.99% over the same period of the previous year of 29.963 million. The number of international visitors staying in Kaohsiung reached about 2,354,000, an increase of 5.44% compared with 101 years (more than 2,233,000 visitors), indicating that the overall software and hardware service quality of the sightseeing attractions in Kaohsiung has improved, and has become a highlight for tourists from inside and outside the island. It is also an object that Mie Prefecture can learn from.
Taroko Caoya Road Shopping Center is the entrepreneurial masterpiece of the listed company Taroko Fiber Investment Subsidiary, “Taroko Development”, which broke ground in June this year, covering an area of 26,000 pings, and will have two three-storey shopping malls covering shopping, dining and leisure, as well as one world-class karting track and a car-themed parent-child amusement park focusing on operation experience, which has been carried out to the first floor of structural engineering and is expected to operate at the end of December next year.
